New Delhi, May 13, 2025 — The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has formally announced the results of the Class 10th board exams today. This year, more than 22.21 lakh students cleared the exam, marking another significant milestone in India's academic calendar. In a notable highlight, Trivandrum and Vijayawada zones have together secured the top places, displaying outstanding study performance and reliability.

Pass Percentage and Statistics

Of the overall 22,55,000 students who took the Class 10 exams in 2025, 22.21 lakh students passed, which gave an overall pass percentage of 98.49%, a marginal improvement over last year's 98.04%.

Girls have again outperformed boys with a pass percentage of 99.12%, while boys achieved 97.86%. The performance of transgender students also improved, with a pass percentage of 96.45%.

Top Performing Regions

Trivandrum and Vijayawada stood joint top with a pass percentage of 99.91% each. This is a continuation of Trivandrum's consistent performance in recent years and an indication of Vijayawada's increasing status as a center of academic excellence.

The next three positions were taken by Chennai (99.76%), Bengaluru (99.73%), and Delhi West (99.64%), completing the list of top five performing areas.

Key Highlights

Digital Scorecards: Students are able to view their digital marksheets on CBSE's official websites — cbse.gov.in and results.cbse.nic.in. They can also be accessed through DigiLocker and the UMANG app.

No Merit List: Following its recent practice, CBSE did not issue a formal merit list to prevent unhealthy rivalry between the students.

Skill Subject Success: More than 3.5 lakh students have chosen skill subjects this year, and 99.02% passed in those subjects, indicating the attempts of CBSE to boost vocational education.

Re-Evaluation and Compartment Exams

Candidates who are not satisfied with their marks can go for re-evaluation on the CBSE portal from May 17, 2025. The last date for applications is May 23, 2025.

Compartment exams will start from July 15, 2025. The date sheet and application information will be released on the CBSE website shortly.

Voices from the Top Regions

Trivandrum and Vijayawada education officers credited the success to a mix of effective teaching methodologies, teacher training, digital classroom integration, and regular parental support.

Addressing the media, CBSE Chairperson Nidhi Chhibber congratulated students, teachers, and parents nationwide:

The CBSE Class 10th results are a testament to the determination and grit displayed by our students. We congratulate them and appreciate all stakeholders who contributed significantly to their journey."

Career counselors are counselling students to choose carefully based on interest, ability, and career aspirations. The schools are also holding orientation workshops to take the students and the parents through the selection process.
